My favorite Youtube video EVERRRR!!! If I ever need a quick pick me up, David After the Dentist is the way to go! And if I hear any reference to it I will definitely quote it.

Happpppiinnnnessss :D

I truly believe that happiness is what you make of it.  If you don’t attempt to have a positive outlook on life, your not going to have one.  Now granted there are someeee people who are just naturally happy people and everything works out for them but I am sure they have had their bad days too where they have to remind themselves to look at everything in a positive light.  This summer was absolutely crazy stressful for me but strangely I didn’t feel the least bit overwhelmed by how everything was turning out.  My dad lost his job at the beginning of the summer which was really hard on my family because he was the one bringing in the usual day to day income.  My mom is not making much either in her job situation right now.  Needless to say, I was kind of forced to transfer schools because the private Christian school was too crazy expensive on little income.  The transfer process is ridiculously lengthy when you don’t have reliable internet connection and you can only use the internet once a week for 3 hours.  On top of that, I found out that I applied to late to have guaranteed housing and I might have to find a place to live to go to school where I wanted to go.  OHH and I decided that my current major wasn’t what I wanted to do so I had to start thinking again about what I wanted to do with my life.  Basically I was crazy stressed but I was fulfilled and happy at the same time.  I knew the whole time that God has a beautiful plan for my life that is so much more than I can imagine and that kept my mood upbeat instead of down in the dumps.  My favorite verse from this summer was Jeremiah 29:11-13 which states,

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

I can confidently say that I try my hardest to remain happy in almost every situation. 🙂

Using Blogs as a Source of Information

Today in English we talked about the merits of different types of media found on the internet and how each of those can be useful for information.  I was thankful that for once SOMEONE in the English profession understands that just because information is from or some other equivalant does not make it right for a particular student’s paper.  I always hated it when teachers would talk about how bad blogs and Wikipedia and any other site that was created by a “non expert”.  What does qualify someone to be an expert on that topic?????? A PhD in that particular study? Thorough experience in that field that is recognized by news broadcasters and universities?  I think anyone who has thoroughly studied that topic in whatever context (field experience or scholarly study) can be considered an expert on that subject.  I personally believe I know quite a bit about the culture of Juneau, Alaska and the area that surrounds the city.  I wouldn’t consider myself an expert but I definitely know my stuff.  The kind of stuff I know, however, isn’t the kind of stuff you can find on a news website or on a university web page.  I researched this a little bit this afternoon to make sure I was correct about what I’m getting ready to say but I can now confidently say that there are no(or very, very few) articles on why the suicide and crime rate in this particular area is so high.  But from being there I know it’s not because of the weather but because of the particular economy in the area.  In the summer, workers are mainly involved in the shrimping and fishing business and so the parents are almost NEVER around for their kids while their home.  But then in the winter, all of these people who work in the industry become unemployed and they have nothing to do so they become depressed and drink in front of their children.  I can confidently say that I know this because many children described their home situation this way.  Try finding that in a news article.

Unexperienced Blogger

As my title suggests I am an unexperienced blogger and basically the only reason I am even attempting to share my thoughts with the world is because my English teacher said so.  However, I did have a blog this summer but I don’t think that really counts because I was in Alaska all summer and new and exciting things happened everyday.  Not going to lie but nothing exciting happens in Edwardsville, Illinois(that is appropriate to put on here :))  Naturally, I like speaking much better than I like writing or typing anything.  It’s called being an extreme extrovert.  I would much rather talk about something to each person who reads my blog than to sit here and write it.  I get incredibly nervous that people are misunderstanding what I am writing because there is no tone and body language like there is in Interpersonal Communication.  Sitting in front of a computer in general is unnatural to me (however, I am getting much better at by being a college student) because I feel like I should be outside meeting people and running around and such.  I don’t know what my life is going to be like when I am old and I don’t have the fully functional athletic body I have now.  I will probably end up being the most depressed angry old lady ever.  Hopefully, however, it takes me a long time to become old and have my body be unfuctional because I will be doing a career that requires me to be active all the time.  This past summer I finally decided to become a Physical Education Teacher Education(PETE) major.  While working as a camp counsuler this summer, I realized just how much I like working with kids and also how much I enjoy playing games and running around with them.  I fell in love with having to use all my energy to have fun with kids and to be there for them.  After looking through careers I decided that the one that sounds most interesting to me that involves kids is PETE.  I talked to all the other staff at camp (who know me VERY well) and they agreed that it was something they think I would be very good at! 🙂  Well that’s just a little introduction into who I am and it’s probably insanely random but who cares?!? I had fun writing it actually. 🙂

Byyyyyyeeeeeee 😀
